Cecilia Frittelli and Richard Lockwood have been textile designers for over 20 years, married since 1984, full-time business partners since 1990, and parents of two school-age children. We live in Greenfield NY, just north of Saratoga Springs, near the campus of Skidmore College.
We design and create cloth on both traditional and computerized looms using multi-harness construction for color and weave effect. The luxury fibers we use include silk, linen, alpaca, and chenille. Our newest fabrications feature eco-friendly yarns such as bamboo and soy fibers. Once woven, our retro-inspired textiles are then steam-finished, cut and sewn into custom-tailored garments with exceptional fit and comfort.
After starting our business during the 80’s in New York City and growing it during the 90’s in the Adirondack Mountain region, we relocated our studio to Glens Falls, NY on the upper Hudson River in northern New York State in 2001. Appropriately, we now work in “The Shirt Factory” a renovated late 19th century mill that used to produce fine mens’ shirts. Currently we are involved in the restoration of an 1850 building located at the northern edge of the Arts District on Beekman Street in Saratoga Springs, 4 blocks from Broadway. We plan to relocate our weaving studio there and open a small gallery in late 2008.

HISTORY
Cecilia has been a weaver since
childhood when her father helped her build a backstrap loom from popsicle
sticks. Richard worked in New England textile mills as a teenager, never
imagining a career in textiles. Later, intrigued by rebuilding Cecilia's
old looms, he began designing necktie fabric. The two started their business
as a partime endeavor in New York City while working their "day jobs" - Cecilia
as a sample weaver, then textile designer for a wovens company and Richard
as a highschool English teacher. In 1990 they left New York and set up their
northern NY studio, establishing frittelli & LOCKWOOD Textiles
as a fulltime artisan business.
